Our Purpose

Our purpose is to glorify God in all that we do as we attempt to carry out the ministry He has granted to us. We desire to exalt God as we praise Him in worship, believing that God is glorified through praise that is distinctly different than worldly entertainment.

We seek to give glory to God by teaching and preaching His Word. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God. It is free from error, preserved for time and eternity, and profitable for conforming us to a godly standard. Therefore, the preaching of the Bible is our central focus, so that anyone attending a service at Community Baptist Church would go out knowing more about God and more about God’s assessment of them. Ultimately, we desire that people would be conformed to His standard.

Our purpose to glorify God is achieved by living out the lessons of God’s Word in everyday life. We believe that the Bible is our authority for practice and not only principle. Therefore, from Sunday School classes to preaching services, practical applications of Bible principles are made so that we might be “doers of the Word and not hearers only.”

Community Baptist Covenant

Having been led by the Holy Spirit to receive Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior; and upon the profession of our faith in Him and having been baptized, we do now, in the presence of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, and this blessed assembly, covenant with one another, as a local, Bible-believing Church.

We promise to walk together daily in Christian love and compassion; to strive for the advancement of this assembly in holiness and knowledge of God's Word, and to promote its testimony before the world, to give our Church sacred preeminence over all institutions of human origin; to attend regularly all of its services unless providentially hindered by reasons acceptable to the Lord; to promote its spirituality and prosperity; to guard its reputation and to defend it against all satanic attacks; and to contribute cheerfully, proportionately, and systematically toward its financial program.

We also promise to maintain family and personal devotions, to seek to teach and instill in our children a reverence and love for the Lord, His Church and His Holy Word; to further instruct them to have respect for those who are over us in the Lord. We further engage to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances, to be honest and just in our dealings, and to walk circumspectly in the world.

We further promise to avoid all gossip and excessive anger; to abstain from all fleshly lusts, and appearance of evil; and further to separate ourselves from anything that would tend to weaken our brethren spiritually and nullify our personal testimony.

We also promise to labor together in Christian love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness or distress of any kind; to be slow to take offense but always ready for reconciliation, with the scriptural admonition to secure it without delay.
